The fabled Nike T90 Laser collection is due to go out of commission much to the chagrin of consumers and top professionals alike, so it is only natural that Nike are planning on releasing something huge that will rock the soccer world. The number of players wearing blackout prototypes is increasing, leaving us with only more questions and speculation.

We have seen Brazilian and Santos superstar Neymar wearing the prototype before, both in a white and black color schematic, but he has now been joined by a number of other players, including Gaston Ramirez, Danny Welbeck, Mateo Kovacic, and Raul Jimenez.
 


Despite currently being one of the main endorsers of the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX and having headlined both the first and second Nike GS limited edition releases, Neymar is seemingly being lined up as the face of this completely new silo. He will most likely be joined by a good majority of current Nike T90 wearers, particularly strikers, who will be 'cleatless' come this summer.



Danny Welbeck has flirted between the T90 and the Mercurial Vapor this past season but will probably end up wearing this new cleat as it could possibly be a blend between the two aforementioned shoes. Rumor has it that even Wayne Rooney could suit up in the new cleats, something that is almost impossible to imagine as he has become synonymous with the T90 range.
 
Due to the recent increase in prototype testing, we might see the cleat be released in conjunction with this summer's Confederations Cup in Brazil. This follows Nike's trend of releasing one cleat or a collection of shoes prior to and alongside a summer showpiece event. This list includes the Euro 2008 'brown collection', the 2010 vibrant orange/purple colorways, the Euro 2012 Clash collection, and the Nike GS with this past summer's London Olympics.
 


The upper is the most intriguing, with a very noticeable dimple pattern dominating the cleat. Based on these images, it seems extremely similar to the uppers of the recently released Bomba Finale II and the Elastico II. Both indoor shoes utilize the new Nike Skin technology, but whether or not Nike will make the upper of this new cleat any different will not be revealed until its looming launch.



Another innovative technology that is apparent from the prototypes is a 'figure eight' chassis with an asymmetrical stud layout. The offset lacing also makes for a large instep, similar to the T90 range, most likely offering a nice surface and platform from which to strike the ball.



While the cleats are obviously not out yet, as more and more players start to wear them in training, we continually get a better idea about what Nike is preparing. For the skeptics out there, just remember that the last silo Nike released was the CTR360 Maestri, a cleat that has gone from strength to strength!
